GENERAL INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS

University 1301: Seminar for Critical Inquiry is a 3-credit hour course created to help you make a successful start at UTEP. This course is designed to engage you intellectually in an academic topic of interest to you, so you want to read the section descriptions and then register for the section with the theme you would like to study.

Though the themes vary from section to section, all sections will

• Strengthen your academic performance and ease your transition to UTEP
• Enhance your essential academic skills
• Increase your interaction with faculty members and fellow students
• Encourage your self-assessment and goal clarification
• Increase your involvement with UTEP activities and resources

You will receive considerable support in the course. Your section will be taught by an instructional team consisting of an instructor, student peer leader, and university librarian. In addition, class sizes are small (20-25 students), so you will wok closely with others, forming friendships with classmates. The goals, instructional team, and class size all combine to make University 1301 a course designed for your college success.
